Series is designed to introduce viewers to scientific concepts and principles in a variety of fields. This program primarily examines the design of various kinds of structures, such as bridges, buildings, hydroelectric dams, human bones, chicken eggs, and sand sculptures. Describes several principles of design. Includes two brief interviews, one with a materials scientist studying adobe bricks and structures, and one with a facility engineer responsible for maintaining the the Verrazano Narrows Bridge in New York City. Also looks at the properties of various materials, such as their strength and elasticity.
