Discusses how food is broken down and absorbed into the bloodstream, how the teeth, bile, saliva, acids and enzymes function in the digestive process, how indigestible waste is expelled, and how our kidneys, liver, skin and intestines work to process waste. Includes a discussion of Dr. William Beaumont's contributions to our understanding of human digestion, a visit with a pediatric transplant surgeon who describes the work of the kidneys and how people can be helped when they fail, and an experiment which tests the digestive action of acids and enzymes.
