Summary, etc. |
Series designed to introduce viewers to the study of the human body. Through the analogy of a music band rehearsal, microphotography, graphics, animation, and simple experiments, this program explains that the human body is really one big system, composed of many smaller systems, each with their own specific job to do. At the same time, however, each system must still interact with the others to get its job done. Examines the functions and major organs of each body system and describes the contributions of Flemish surgeon, Andreas Vesaluis to the study of the human body. Includes an interview with a pediatric intensive care doctor whose work reveals how one body system can affect the others and presents an activity which reinforces the concept that our body systems can accomplish things by working as a group that no individual part can do alone. Other features include: Spanish and English language tracks ; discussion questions and activities ; an investigation data sheet ; chapter select ; and closed-captioning. |
